# Helmut4 Clients

While the Helmut4 client can be used for various tasks, the following system requirements are recommended specifically for Helmut4 clients intended for render-intensive tasks. These recommendations are based on Adobe's requirements for [Premiere Pro](https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/system-requirements.html).

Running the Helmut4 client on a different system is possible, but we suggest testing it in advance.

Currently, native ARM/Apple Silicon support is not available. On macOS, the client will be emulated using Apple's Rosetta 2.

## Windows & Macintosh Clients

### **Recommended System Requirements**

* OS:
  * Windows:
    * Windows 10 (64-bit) version 22H2 (see [EOS](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/windows-10-home-and-pro) information)
    * Windows 11 or later
  * Apple:
    * MacOS 12 or later<br>
* CPU:
  * Windows:
    * Intel® 11th Gen or newer CPU with Quick Sync or newer CPU
    * AMD Ryzen™ 3000 Series / Threadripper 2000 series or newer CPU
  * Apple Intel:
    * Intel® 6th Generation or newer CPU
  * Apple Silicon:
    * Apple Silicon M1 Pro, Max, Ultra or newer<br>
* RAM:
  * HD: 16GB or higher
  * UHD: 32GB or higher<br>
* GPU:
  * Windows:
    * 2 GB or more of GPU memory for HD and some 4K media
    * 8 GB or more of GPU memory for 4K and higher
  * Apple Intel:
    * 2 GB of GPU memory (HD)
  * Apple Silicon:
    * 8 GB of unified memory (HD), 16GB for 4K and higher<br>
* Display: 1920 x 1080 or greater
* Ethernet:
  * 1GbE for HD
  * 10GbE for UHD and beyond

## Linux Multi Purpose Client

### **Recommended System Requirements**

* CPU: A minimum of 2 Core&#x73;**\***&#x20;
* RAM: A minimum of 2GB of RA&#x4D;**\***&#x20;
* GPU: *not supported*
* Ethernet: A minimum of 1 GbE provided by the host, while 10 GbE is recommended for file move/copy operations or heavy rendering

The [Linux client](https://docs.helmut.de/helmut4-releases/v4.10.1/installation-guide/helmut4-client#linux-client) is available as a Docker container and is only compatible with x86-based Linux distributions (no ARM architecture)!\
